Normally, if I click on a page that takes a while to load, the throbber/spinner in the tab animates smoothly the whole time. Recently (last few Nightlies, it feels like) the animation pauses at "Connecting..." until the page is basically finished loading. A nice high-latency example of this is loading https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/enter_bug.cgi?product=Core This reproduces w/ and w/o e10s enabled. While the animation is paused the browser is otherwise responsive. I'm perhaps over-sensitive (esp now that e10s has made the chrome animations relatively smooth), but my brain interprets this sort of animation pause as "the browser is frozen" so it'd be nice for perceived snappiness to fix this.
