Steps to reproduce:

visit any page that has a normal link
right-click the link, open link in new tab


Actual results:

nothing. no new tab with the target page in it.


Expected results:

a new tab should have been added with the address of that link as the start of its history.

I'm not able to reproduce it, with e10s on/off.
When you report a bug, you need to test:
1) in safe mode: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode
2) with a clean test profile: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-and-remove-firefox-profiles

copied old profile into new profile. I figure the only thing corrupted in my profile is probably places. so I made it essentially invisible: I moved my places databases into a dir old-places. should act like profile reset, but I get to keep my tabs, cookies, prefs, etc (call it a profile migration).
started 38.0a1
closed 38.0a1
restarted with --safe-mode
visited this web page. right clicked on the New link. saw normal context menu.
on the off chance it might be something in normal mode, closed browswr and started normally.
visited this web page. right clicked on the New link. saw normal context menu again.

this problem has gone away on its own.

 I *was* seeing a very long vertical menu that was screen height (somewhat under 1080 pixels) that had a lot of useful stuff in it, probably for images, links, etc who knows what, don't remember offhand. was this the old context menu before things got shortened? I think it was! I think it looked maybe familiar. I wish I had thought to get a screenshot.
