I would like to report this Firefox extension. It phones-home user tracking information, and deceptive to its name and description, it's packaged with adware. They also have zero privacy policy when handling user data, which is a violation of United States and European law.

Please read the following for more information

http://support.getadblock.com/discussions/questions/365-privacy-policy

http://readwrite.com/2014/08/01/adblock-plus-switch-adblock

http://support.getadblock.com/kb/other-problems/i-see-chrome-warning-me-that-adblock-will-access-my-data-and-browsing-activity-why-it-only-blocks-ads

They explicitly state "We don't have a privacy policy" and then say "Don't use the extension if you don't trust us."

This was reported by Raccoon raccoon@vulp.us
As far as I can see, the extension sends a regular ping with non-identifiable data like a generated ID, the locale and number of blocks the extension has performed. I don't see anything concerning there. It's certainly the case that if the extension wanted to receive full review, it would need to have a Privacy Policy, but this is not a requirement for preliminary approval, so it is fine in its current state.

Hi!

Just to add a couple of final comments from us at AdBlock:

We do have a privacy policy. Thanks for pointing out the mistake in our Knowledge Base - I will correct that now.

Jorge is 100% correct as well, we only send back non-identifiable information to our ping server.
