Hello Stephen,
Marketplace is a critical part of the overall FFOS offering. In addition, the product also appears on the desktop and Android. I am listing all the components here so you can work with the community to share the workload and prioritize among other localization tasks.
Marketplace is not FFOS version dependent. It is best to start working on this when there are no other competing demands such as marketing content and UI localization is in good standing.
In addition, if there is no community to develop apps in Swahili, you can opt to localize only two components for the time being and tackle the rest at a later time. Let me know your preference.
Source files in the order or priority:
1) Front End: https://localize.mozilla.org/projects/fireplace/
2) Payments Front End: https://localize.mozilla.org/projects/spartacus/
3) Zippy: https://localize.mozilla.org/projects/zippy/
4) Zamboni: https://localize.mozilla.org/projects/marketplace/
5) Stat: https://localize.mozilla.org/projects/marketplace_stats/
6) Communication dashboard: https://localize.mozilla.org/projects/commbadge/
The progress dashboard: https://l10n.mozilla-community.org/~flod/webstatus/mpstats/
Make sure you have access to Verbatim. If not, please submit a bug or send an email in the "Contact Us" page. Make sure you have admin right so you can grant permission to other community members.
Let me know if you have any questions to get this started.
Thank you,
Peiying

Arky,
Please take a look of the workload and the time needed to complete the task. Main question: A). If there is an app developer community, we should support the all the features of Marketplace. B). If there is no interest in this, and people come to Marketplace only as "end users", then only the first two components need to be localized.
If option A, and it is too much, I can work with Rubric to complete it and the community focus on the product.

Peiying,
I think what would be of impact to translate are the bits that help the end users which I believe falls under option A. Developers in EA where Swahili is widely spoken have a good understanding of the English language since this is the language they build their apps in but may later seek translation services commercially or otherwise.

Thank you Stephen. Let's focus on the first two components then. Let's see what the actual market need is. If there is no need, we will not even seek commercial solution.
I am filing other bugs that are tied to market readiness. Then I will send you an email to get your feedback on the overall workload assessment.
Thank you,
Peiying

Hi Stephen,
I see some progress is being made. We need to have the Front End portion completed and tested by this weekend. Is it possible: 1) Front End: https://localize.mozilla.org/projects/fireplace/.
Only after that, I will request a push to production. We need this to go live next Tuesday. I will send you an email to explain.
Thanks,
Peiying

Hi Stephen,
in bug 1124877, you mentioned the following:
"Seems there is a bug on localize.mozilla.org. The system is not giving me the text box where I am supposed to type in translations. For example open the link while logged in. https://localize.mozilla.org/sw/fireplace/translate.html#filter=incomplete&unit=3109209
Also see screenshot attached."
It appears that you are looking for incomplete translation rather than just "translate", which will take you to this view that allows you to translate or edit: https://localize.mozilla.org/sw/fireplace/translate.html.
Let me know if you were trying to do something else.

If your username is uwanja, you have full permissions on the entire language, so I'm not sure what's going in.
Can you try with on a new profile of Firefox or a different browser to check if it's the same?
Comment 10•10 years ago

Yes my username is Uwanja.
I have tried on another browser and computer for that matter and result when I try working on remaining words in item 1 on comment 0 I get same error as reported earlier. However, I have finished working on item 2 which I believe is equally important.

Hello,
I think I have found out that the error I had reported only occurs after I get to some strings. I think the system was made that way. The box where I am supposed to enter the translations disappears when I get to the following string. (https://localize.mozilla.org/sw/fireplace/LC_MESSAGES/translate.html#unit=3025559). The strings that follow have same wording and format.

Dwayne, have you been able to fix it?

Matjaz, do we have anything in the logs?
One thing I wanted to check does Swahili have plural forms defined? As the missing strings all seem to be related to plural units.
Can we change AMAGAMA_URL to point to https, that will remove some of the noise in the Javascript console that might be hiding an issue.

I didn't see anything in the logs, so my first guess was also plural forms. They weren't defined, so I did that, but it didn't help.
But now everything seems to be working fine:

Stephen, can you confirm?

Hi Stephen,
Let me know if this is indeed complete. From verbatim and status dashboard, it looks like you have 400+ words to complete. When you commit translated strings please click on the VCS link or your work won't show up on the status.

Hello Stephen,
Could you make sure this is done ASAP? the partner would like to test the product as part of their overall testing. The features are updated from time to time, so make sure this is done
Current state: https://l10n.mozilla-community.org/~flod/webstatus/mpstats/.
Front End (Fireplace) and Payment Front End page should be 100% complete.
Thanks,
Peiying

OK for the current launch, there is no Payment needed so focus ONLY on the Fireplace component: https://localize.mozilla.org/projects/fireplace/. Looks like you just committed some strings, :).

Finished translating but some error pops up when I click commit all to VCS. See attached screeshot.

When it happens, try:
* Update all from VCS
* Change one more string
* Commit to VCS

Thanks @Francesco it worked. This should be at 100% for the first two items in comment 0 as per partner requirement.

Officially, it has completed! Please start testing on dev server. I will have the Marketplace team enable it on production, which takes place on Tuesdays.
