Steps to reproduce:

1. Select message in the Message List pane
2. Ignore thread (either 'Message > Ignore Thread' or press 'K' shortcut key)


Actual results:

1. Thread is marked ignored
2. Focus jumps to next unread message


Expected results:

1. Thread is marked ignored
2. Focus remains on current message (or possibly on the following thread)

Pretty sure this is by design. Why would you want to mark the thread ignored but continue reading it? And if the next thread has read and unread, it seems natural you want to continue with the unread, not the once you already read.

Fair enough. That's why step 2 of expected results includes "(or possibly on the following thread)"

That doesn't seem very consistent. I'd consider that this should be the same as the Archive option. Archiving a message or thread places you on the next message or thread, not on the next unread thread. That's that the 'Go > Next > Unread {Message,Thread}' menu options and keyboard shortcuts are for.

Fwiw, I agree with the reporter that moving the focus to the next unread message is an undesirable behavior. That message may be very far from the thread that was marked as ignored, which is disorienting. I'd prefer to not move the focus at all, or if you must, to the next thread.
