We found that copy and paste the Chinese string inside mozilla is right, but copy a Chinese string outside mozilla and paste it into mozilla, it will always fail. The test platform is Linux 2.4.10, Redhat 7.1 XFree86 X Window 4.1.0 We fixed it by modify the unixcharset.properties file, add a line locale.all.zh_CN.gb2312=GB2312 into the file. Because the enviroment variable LC_ALL could be defined as zh_CN.gb2312, and this define is more frequently used than zh_CN.GB2312. We hope this bug will be fixed when the next version released.

> please confirm on all the platforms. I think it's a linux only problem - at least we don't have same problem on on windows. It's might related with bug 104027, but I can not confirm it cause I only have Japanese linux machine here, so I can not get the chinese string outside mozilla. cc Katakai-san.
simon: can you take a look at this?

I can't get Chinese on any apps except Mozilla, so I don't know how to test this. I agree that it sounds related to bug 104027. Since the original report includes a fix, why don't we just go with that?

Peter, would you agree this problem is gone?
Whiteboard: [closeme 2011-08-11]
Bug reporter indicated that the locale is zh_CN.gb2312, so it should be related to zh-CN team. We use "zh_TW.UTF-8" or "zh_TW.Big5" in Taiwan. I had never met such issue in my memory and couldn't reproduce the Bug in en-US SeaMonkey 2.0 on my Ubuntu Natty now.
So WORKSFORME then?

Couldn't be sure... Shaohua, take a look at this?
Checked with ubuntu 11.10, when we use"Chinese Simplifiefd" language in system settings, the "LANG=zh_CN.UTF-8", and I tried to copy something from terminal to firefox, it works correctly. Do I need to trysomthing else to verify this?
