I'm filing this bug to track the progress of integrating Hijri calendar system into the OS as UX might want to see this being used in future versions with RTL/Arabic.
A good starting point would be a proof of concept by creating a setting to choose between Hijri and Gregorian which then applies the math of it to statusbar date.
Intl APIs seems to fulfill our need(1) however I'm not sure about the implementation status of this in Gecko even though the page says it is indeed implemented, I have yet to tinker around with it.
