Details

From Bugzilla Helper:

After opening a submenu (displaying its contents), moving the mouse to another
submenu (on the same level or above) should cause the first submenu to close and
the current submenu to open (with whatever delays are appropriate). Instead,
the first submenu closes after a short delay, and when it does, unselects the
current submenu altogether. The end result is that the mouse is hovering over
the current submenu, but it is neither selected or opened. It can be remedied
by twiddling the mouse or clicking the mouse button, but...

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open a menu that has many submenus (for instance, the bookmarks menu when
you have many folders of bookmarks).
2. Move the mouse over one of the folders/submenus. The submenu opens and
displays its contents.
3. Move the mouse quickly to another folder/submenu under the bookmarks menu
(preferably one that is a few items away; for instance, if you have folders
Foo1, Foo2, ..., Foo20, move from Foo1 to Foo15).

Actual Results: The first submenu (Foo1) closes after a short delay. When this
happens, the new submenu (Foo15) becomes unselected and will not open until the
mouse is twiddled (and the submenu becomes selected) or the mouse is clicked.

Expected Results: The first submenu should close after a short delay, but when
this happens, the new submenu (Foo15), should retain its selection and open to
display its contents.

This is 100% reproducible for me for menu items that are separated by at least
one (i.e. moving from Foo1 to Foo3). It is rarer when moving between
consecutive submenu items.

I am running Fvwm 2.4.3 (but I think I experienced it on a box running KDE 2.2.1
as well).

It could be considered cosmetic, but it makes it pretty painful to navigate
folders of bookmarks. I end up constantly clicking and fiddling with the mouse
as I hunt for a bookmark.

Thanks!
