Filed on behalf of Hal Wine: I get the following type message whenever using github api: $ brew search blackbox No formula found for "blackbox". Searching pull requests... Closed pull requests: New formula: blackbox 44 (https://github.com/Homebrew/homebrew/pull/8083) Error: GitHub API rate limit exceeded for 22.214.171.124. (But here's the good news: Authenticated requests get a higher rate limit. Check out the documentation for more details.) Try again in 6 minutes 37 seconds, or create an API token: https://github.com/settings/applications and then set HOMEBREW_GITHUB_API_TOKEN. 1 [Hal@Hals-MacBook-Air releng-private] $ host 126.96.36.199 188.8.131.52.in-addr.arpa domain name pointer corp-nat.p2p.sfo1.mozilla.com. 0 [Hal@Hals-MacBook-Air releng-private]
Mike, make an API key on Github and setup Brew as follows; http://stackoverflow.com/questions/20130681/setting-github-api-token-for-homebrew
Can't we reach out to github ? (of course they aren't listed at https://mana.mozilla.org/wiki/display/HOTH/Vendor+Contacts nor https://mana.mozilla.org/wiki/display/EA/Application+Portfolio nor https://mana.mozilla.org/wiki/display/EA/Enterprise+Architecture+Contacts ). I'm pretty sure we have contacts in github. I just don't know who knows. so ccing a few people I know that might know.
I don't have any github contacts, sorry.
Closing -- was not repeatable later that day, and not reported by anyone else. I have not seen the issue from SF since. Chalking up as transient issue. Not worth spinning our wheels on at this point.
