I was able to press the close (aka the X) button on a tab, then press another tab and see that render before the tab that I had closed was visibly gone, so I thought it wasn't closing and I moved to click the close button again, and just before I did the tab went away and I clicked another tab's close button. I think that if I click a tab's close button and we start closing the tab, even if that is async, then we should use css to remove the tab from sight immediately.
