Details

From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/4.72 [en] (X11; U; Linux 2.2.14-5.0 i686) BuildID: 2001112012 [Mozilla] Mozilla 0.9.6 Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:0.9.6) Gecko/20011120 When I drag & drop URL from one TAB-ed browser to another TAB-ed browser and if I accidentally touch "bookmarks" button, mozilla brings to the screen bookmark pulldown menu. This menu CAN NOT be closed. It stays there. In the same time, you can not finish dragging the URL, because, bookmark pulldown is active... The only way to exit from the loop is to KILL mozilla Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.start fresh new mozilla 0.9.6 2.go to http://www.mozilla.org (you should be there by default already) 3.shrink/close left window (sidebar window) if it is there 4.create TAB-ed browser ( CTRL - T ) 5.select TAB where "www.mozilla.org" is (make that TAB active) 6.click on any URL on that page, KEEP left mouse button pressed and drag the URL toward non active (non selected) TAB 7.touch with the mouse the "Bookmarks" button (do not forget that your left mouse button is still pressed, because you want to drop the URL into NOT SELECTED TAB-ed browser Actual Results: Bookmarks pulldown menu will pop up and it will stay there regardless what you do Expected Results: I am expecting that I could finish "drag&drop" sequence without any problem.. as long I keep left mouse button pressed.. of course
BTW: everything works without any quirks IF YOU DO NOT TOUCH BOOKMARK MENU during "drag&drop" process/sequence
Reporter: This is not a "blocker". Please change to e.g. "minor" or even "trivial". Whatever... I am able to reproduce this buglet, using 2001 11 29 03 with Windows 2000. That is, after step 7 the "Bookmarks" menu does not disappear until I release the left mouse button. Thank you for using Bugzilla.
I correct myself, Igor. If Mozilla really _hangs_ for you, the severity level should be "critical". Using Windows 2000, I don't see a hang though. The "Bookmarks" menu disappears as soon the left mouse button is released, but that was not the case for you?
You must not kill mozilla. You can: 1. drop the link in the bookmarks 2. drop it in the tabs area and mozilla opens a new TAB This is never a blocker ! -> bookmarks The bookmarks should close if I move my mouse out of the bookmark area

I will answer to comments one after the another: Svante said: I correct myself, Igor. If Mozilla really _hangs_ for you, the severity level should be "critical". Using Windows 2000, I don't see a hang though. The "Bookmarks" menu disappears as soon the left mouse button is released, but that was not the case for you Igor: No, that is not case for me. "Bookmarks" menu DOES NOT disapear. "Bookmarks" menu covers the simbol for "drag&drop" and there is nothing I can do. Matthias said: You must not kill mozilla. You can: 1. drop the link in the bookmarks 2. drop it in the tabs area and mozilla opens a new TAB This is never a blocker ! -> bookmarks The bookmarks should close if I move my mouse out of the bookmark area Igor: ad 1) No, I do not want to drop the link in the bookmarks. I want to drop the link to the TAB-ed browser. ad 2) I can not drop it in the TABS area, because, focus is on "Bookmarks" menu and it does not matter where I click with the mouse. "Bookmarks" menu stays there and I can not get rid of it. I have to kill mozilla. I have to add that it happened once that mozilla crashed by itself and the problem was solved automagicaly. ad -> bookmarks No.. bookmarks DO NOT CLOSE, when I move mouse out of bookmarks area Therefore I declared this bug "BLOCKER". But, if you guys think that this is not a "blocker", it is fine with me.
I tried couple more times to "exit" from the endless loop by NOT using "kill" command. No, I could not do it. So I still think that this bug is "blocker" or, at least "critical". This bug is basicaly a duplicate of the bug 96504. That bug is marked "major", which I consider wrong. It is a blocker. Try to imagine a regular user who does not know how to enter into console mode in order to kill the mozilla. For him/her the computer is frozen and the only solution is to reboot the computer. But, guys and gals, we are not talking here about MS WINDOWS...where the "reboot" is a normal/regular user experience.
" Blocker=Blocks development and/or testing work" from http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/bug_status.html#severity You can use mozilla and test mozilla. Only D&d does not work(in this special case). This is never a blocker. It's critical if mozilla hangs. This is a dupe of 96504 - verified
