Description

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.10; rv:36.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/36.0
Build ID: 20150202183609

Steps to reproduce:

Opened Thunderbird Preferences in Mac OS 10.10.2. (Same problem in OS 10.9.8 and 10.10.1)

Actual results:

Each preference window is vertically truncated and can not be expanded. No scroll pane is available. If I move to second preference (i.e. from General to Display), the window is cut in half vertically. If I then move to a third preference (i.e.Composition), the window is reduced showing only the header.

Expected results:

Preference windows should either have been deep enough vertically to display all options or there should have been a scroll bar. Preference windows should not be shortened vertically when moving from one to another.

Unable to reproduce on Daily (v.38) on Mac OS X 10.10.2. So, all panels worked as expected.

Could you please check if the issue is still happening when restarting in safe-mode Thunderbird, Allan? You could test it by selecting the item "Restart with add-ons disabled" on the Help menu. That would also disable not-default theme which could be causing the problem.

In the case that the problem persists, it could be interesting if you copy and paste here the full version string for Thunderbird. This can be found when selecting "Troubleshooting Information" also on the Help menu.

Problem persists when add-ons disabled. First screen of preferences appears to be complete. But when I click on the next string it is truncated. By the time I click on the 4th screen of preferences, the box is about two pixels tall!!

I have not been able to find how to get the full version string, whatever that is. Thunderbird info shows I am on version 31.4.0

Weird. Is that happening whatever sequence tried? I mean, when opening the preference window, and it is on General pane, if you open, for example, last one ("Advanced") can you see also the problem?

Recently the width for Preference window on Mac OS X have been changed because there was a visual minor proiblem while showing the font names. Bug was fixed by myself and I tested so this was not causing any other problem. That is what I am trying to see with previous paragraph, if the change in the width is not causing this particular issue.

Yeah, sorry, Allan. You give us that information before I requested, but I didn't see that comment.

Simple answer - yes. I've tried about every sequence. The first window seems normal - go to a second pane and it's truncated. Go back to previous pane and it's almost non-existent!!
