This is very easy to reproduce on Linux 2001120206 and 2001113006.

Every second or third time the browser starts, it's themed as classic instead of
modern.  Despite my prefs file.  Despite earlier (September, 0.9.5) working
fine, despite me running new builds as root once before using them.

Every time I want this fixed, I have to change the pref and restart.  And every
next time I get to do it again.
This sounds like bug 111278.  Reopen if yuo disagree.
