Version: Gaia-Rev 8238eeacc7030b2cdbf7ab4eba2f36779b702599 Gecko-Rev https://hg.mozilla.org/mozilla-central/rev/29b05d283b00 Build-ID 20150129160230 Version 38.0a1 Device-Name flame FW-Release 4.4.2 FW-Incremental 65 FW-Date Mon Dec 15 18:51:29 CST 2014 Bootloader L1TC000118D0 STR: 1) I have both 3G/2G sims on my Flame, 2G for outgoing calls/messages, and 3G for data. 2) Leave only WiFi on before going to bed. 3) In the morning, the data connection icon in quick settings is a sqaure, enable it does not work, 3G sim stays at no data connection. I also realized that switch on/off plane mode can workaround it. I have showed Edgar the device, he grabbed a log and will attach it here later.

Thanks Ting-Yu for reporting this. The symptom sounds similar to bug 1118490, did you notice what was the icon in the quick settings? Was it like a square? It seems that we are losing data registration after some time. Will need logs to confirm it.

So it seems to be a modem issue... I wonder if this happens with qcril as well, if yes, we can ask partner's help to look into this.

Eric, Could you or do you know who can help test this scenario using moz-ril and caf-ril at the same time? We need ril logs as well. Thank you! :)

Current setup * Change to v18D-1 for grabbing log when sleep. * RIL debug ON. * Wifi on but not connected to any ap. * Data connection off. * SIM inserted in slot1 & slot2 * Display timeout NOT set to "never" Tried for 2 nights, not able to reproduce.

The reproduce rate was lower when I enabled RIL debug.

Can you still reproduce it?

i met a similar symptom: having data on, having wifi on without connecting to any AP. I can't remember what exactly I did as I just left the device on my desk. No idea how long the time past... then I lost data connection, and turning on/off airplane mode *cannot* recover. "square icon" was displayed. I also observed that signal bar is always *searching*, operator information in ril log is null. That implies that voice registration is lost, which is different from what we addressed in bug 1156231. Bug 1156231 was for data registration loss while voice registration remains.
