Steps to reproduce:

Went to Dropbox, and right-clicked a folder to download it, clicked on Download, and the site created a zip file. All process was right untill 1 second left to finish my download. Closing Firefox while this state (not possible to cancel the current downloads) makes Windows 7 not to be able to end firefox.exe process.


Actual results:

The download never finish but instead it stays in "one second left" forever. After 2 attempts to close the process, I'm forced to restart the system as it's not capable to open firefox again. Message: "Firefox cannot open your profile. It might be missing" (not exactly that words, but didn't get a screenshot).


Expected results:

My download should be finished properly, and then, Windows 7 should be able to end firefox.exe process

Does the problem still happen if you start Firefox in Safe Mode? (Safe Mode disables extensions and themes, hardware acceleration and some JavaScript stuff in order to exclude some possible reasons for problems. It does not disable plugins which are add-ons.) Does that also happen if you use a different internet connection?

Just tried Safe Mode, and still the same. 

Also I uninstalled the first firefox I had (v 36.1) as I had other bug on it(it didn't save the sessions) and installed the new beta version (v 37). I tried just after the installation was complete (I guess it counts as a blank profile, no addons, no config, no changes, just straight to the page). The same, the only change I could see is that now, instead "one second left", it says "Unknown time remaining" while all the process (since the beginning of the download), and now I could get the old session back, and it keeps it always.

I tried some other downloads (all around the same size, less than 300MB) from other sites and got the same to all of them.

I got the last Firefox Developer Edition, and the downloads bug doesn't appear on it

Marking this as Resolved > Worksforme since it cannot be reproduced anymore on the latest versions of Firefox Nightly 96.0a1 (2021-11-29), beta 95.0b12 or release 94.0.2 on Windows 10.
If anyone can still reproduce this issue either re-open this ticket or file a new one.
