Local (NZ) toll-free numbers don't work on the Auckland office phones. Test numbers: 0800 733 505 0800 567 888
If you leave the phone on the hook, and dial the number first, then hit the dial button and pick it up, does it work?
Nevermind, it does work now. Whether on or off the hook. I'm not sure why it didn't work before.
