Steps to reproduce:

As requested in http://mikeconley.ca/blog/2015/02/17/on-unsafe-cpow-usage-in-firefox-desktop-and-why-is-my-nightly-so-sluggish-with-e10s-enabled/, I checked about:compartments for high values in the second column. RES is, in comparison to the total time, the worst offender, with 1/3 of the time being spent on CPOW.

Bug 1046044 was closed.  Telemetry from arewee10syet.com showing not using shims or CPOWs now.

with 5.0.3 average blocking CPOW per session hour .01 - which looks on par and avg ms blocking is 4 - arewee10syet.com stats.

As an aside, if we could switch it to a WebExtensions version, that would be awesome. See bug 1208765 for more. cc'ing Steve Sobel about that :)
