Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/40.0.2214.111 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce:

Installed Thunderbird.
Added an IMAP email account.
Installed ENIGMAIL addon.
Created keys for me. Disabled "compose in HTML" from Menu > Preferences > Account Settings.
Sent an Email with GnuPG encryption using Enigmail inline PGP.

Actual results:

Recipient unable to decrypt the messages that I sent with GnuPG encryption using Enigmail inline PGP.

If I force it to use, PGP/MIME, recipient is able to decrypt the messages.

Expected results:

Recipient should be able to decrypt the messages that I sent with GnuPG encryption using Enigmail inline PGP.

Additional info:

OS in my machine:
Fedora 21 (GNU/Linux) with GNOME Version 3.14.2.
LSB Version:	:core-4.1-amd64:core-4.1-noarch:cxx-4.1-amd64:cxx-4.1-noarch:desktop-4.1-amd64:desktop-4.1-noarch:languages-4.1-amd64:languages-4.1-noarch:printing-4.1-amd64:printing-4.1-noarch
Distributor ID:	Fedora
Description:	Fedora release 21 (Twenty One)
Release:	21
Codename:	TwentyOne

GnuPG info installed in my machine:
Name : gnupg
Arch : x86_64
Version : 1.4.18
Release : 4.fc21

Thunderbird version:
Name : thunderbird
Arch : x86_64
Version : 31.4.0
Release : 1.fc21

I was able to fix it by :

Preferences > Advanced > General tab click on 'Config Editor'
Looked for "mail.identity.id1.compose_html" It was already toggled as false.

Looked for "mail.html_compose" It was true. I toggled it to false.
Looked for "mail.identity.default.compose_html" and toggled it to false.

Now it works. If I send a email with GnuPG encryption using Enigmail inline PGP, Recipient is able to decrypt the messages .

I guess I am not the first person to face this issue. Check here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1004181

I am not a techie person and it is the first time I am using an email client and PGP. I have always used webmail. I think this is not the intended way, but if this setting was left like this purposefully, I am sorry for trouble.

Regards, rat.
I was curious and I wanted to check how it is in Windows. So I installed Windows 10 and I installed thunderbird 31 . I tried the Steps to reproduce in this thunderbird everything works fine. There was no issue and I am unable to reproduce the issue.

So it might be an issue in the thunderbird for fedora or it might be some other issue.
deadrat,

do you still see this issue when using current versions??
