I've had this a couple of times in the past month or so - possibly only when we've pushed an RC (though I'm not sure). What happens is I'll check for an update manually and it will fail, but succeed if I try again.
I tried looking into it today and I don't understand why it thinks the update failed. Attached is my updates.xml which clearly shows an integrity error. The hashes and filesizes in it look fine, and match what's on FTP:
-bash-4.1$ ls -l

The download comes from a CDN, which makes me think something is wrong on that front, but these files are not overwritten, which makes that far less likely. I would expect failures during "final verify" is that were the case, too.
I've got my entire appdir backed up in case any other files would be helpful.
