We'd like to be able to set up directories for the fennec on ios project for up to 31 locales. The files in the SVN will be XLIFF files generated from the xCode server and imported right back in at build time. Localizers translate the strings within the source XLIFF files either by editing the XLIFF files itself (which will require a bit of a tutorial) or translating in Pootle. Stefan from the mobile team has volunteered to manage the target translation import and source export process and is happy to use SVN. Please create l10n directories in SVN under https://svn.mozilla.org/projects/l10n-misc/trunk/firefox-ios . Initially, we need fr, it, de, es, and es-MX directories. I will send mail to the dev-l10n list to see how many other locales want to localize.

I created the folder structure in r138358, but apparently we need to set up permissions to get access to localizers (ni Pascal for that). Just to confirm: you want 'es' and not 'es-ES', because it's the locale code available on Pootle?

(In reply to Francesco Lodolo [:flod] from comment #1) > I created the folder structure in r138358, but apparently we need to set up > permissions to get access to localizers (ni Pascal for that). Never mind, didn't realize I did a checkout with http:// instead of https:// Tested with my localizer account and work as expected.

Great! Stefan, could you please land the latest xliff export into those directories? I'm working on a guide to localizing xliff files that I want to have ready for review today. I'll also let the l10n community know that if they'd like to localize Fennec for iOS, they'll need to file a bug against their locale and link it as a dependency to this (using this as a tracker).

I'll need a bit of time to figure this out since I have not used SVN in about half a decade I think so I need to refresh my thoughts on how to put that in an automated workflow. Francesco, do I have write access to this repository? If not, can you arrange that please?

For the meantime, if it helps, I can generate the first xliff and attach it here as a patch for flod to land.

Filed bug 1136239 for IT. As for SVN, make sure you check-out the repository with https and you should be good to go https://svn.mozilla.org/projects/l10n-misc/trunk/firefox-ios/

Closing this bug because the repository has been setup and I have commit access.
