+++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #942064 +++

In bug 942064 we introduced a `messagedeleted` event that we use to clear notifications from the notification tray. The same mechanism should be used to update the UI by delivering `messagenew` and `messageupdated` events and hooking up the UI to them. This would finally move us to a pure MVC implementation, yay!
This was handled in bug 942076.
