For example when using the ublock Firefox addon, it blocks this script:
https://ssl.google-analytics.com/ga.js
The page served by the embedd iframe is then blank instead of showing a video.
If i disable ublock or tell it not to block google analytics, the iframe/video with display fine. I suspect this happens with various other addons like Ghostery, but also perhaps the integrated Firefox Nightly tracking protection.
This is the iframe link i used for testing: https://air.mozilla.org/mozilla-winter-of-security-audit-go-project/video/

Hi :kang,
So we currently have GA switched on for the JWPlayer. As a general setting.
We've played before with switching this on and off and it didn't take effect. However, we suspect it might be related to caching on Vid.ly's end.
We have now, as of 5 min ago, switched off the GA setting feature for JWPlayer. Let's leave it off for 24 hours and then try uBlock and Ghostery and everything and see if it still causes videos to not play.
It could very well be that the way JWPlayer is implemented, it stumbles and falls over horribly if it's not allowed to send pings to GA.
So, please try a couple of videos tomorrow and early next week and let us know if this makes a difference.
By the way, was all videos broken for you until you whitelisted ssl.google-analytics.com?

I only tried a couple of videos so I couldn't be sure.
Right now, the link https://air.mozilla.org/mozilla-winter-of-security-audit-go-project/video/ works for me with ublock activated. I'll try again next week hopefully - ping me or needinfo if ever I don't update you :)

When we had reports of this in the past both Richard and I installed Ghostery and it didn't seem to do the trick. I'll install ublock and make sure I play along.

Let's conclude then that settings a GA ID into the jwplayer on vid.ly is not working.
I'll file a ticket with Vid.ly.
