Steps to reproduce:

Tab Panel in Firefox 36 for Android using Tablet UI.

Attempted to close a tab by swiping it off the screen.


Actual results:

Browser switched to tab instead of closing it.


Expected results:

Tab should have been closed and removed from the Tab Panel.

I don't think we want to support tab swiping with the re-design, but that's up to UX. Anthony? WONTFIX?

Oh that is a pity.  

For users who use Firefox daily on both phones and tablets I've already seen them struggling with this issue; in their minds, and mine, why would it behave differently on a tablet to their phone?  It's just a bigger screen, but now requires the user to think 'does Firefox consider this a tablet' before taking an action.

It this will be WONTFIX, would it be possible to make the x-to-close more prominent on each tab preview?  It is very small and sifficult to hit ( particularly after vainly swiping at it three times ).

This will be covered in the future, it is a work in progress. See Bug 1017338

Anthony, any thoughts on this? I've had similar issues before I got used to the X's hit area.

Yep, I agree this is missing and this work should be tracked in bug 1017338.
