Steps to reproduce:
Dear all,
Currently Lightning opens in a new tab window and I see no way to customise this behaviour. Personally, I would prefer to open Lightning in a new separate window. I do not know for how many users this is of relevance. But I look forward to hearing your general opinion on this.
Thanks,
Robert

Same as Bug 701413?
Currently you can workaround the Thunderbird behavior by doing the following: Switch to mail tab, right click on a mail folder, and select open in new window from context menu. In the new window you can now open the calendar tab independent from the first Thunderbird window.
Or you could take a look at the Lightbird extension <https://addons.mozilla.org/thunderbird/addon/lightbird/>. But this is more like a completely new user interface for Lightning in a separate window. In the Thunderbird window you don't see Lightning anymore.

Hi Stefan,
Thanks for suggesting Lightbird! Great add-on that solves my needs.
