When line-relative and flow-relative coordinate systems don't match (i.e. in vertical-lr mode, typically; text-orientation:sideways-left will eventually affect this too), explicit lengths or percentage values used with vertical-align get applied in the wrong direction. See testcase, where the 10px and -10px cases are offset in the wrong direction in the vertical-lr example.
