I CAN log into Persona (and Github).

I CANNOT log into MDN with either Persona or Github.

It tells me that "Could not find profile matching that account."
It also tells me "A profile already exists with an email address below. Do you already have an MDN profile?"

If I click "Yes, connect with my MDN profile" it takes me to the persona login and redirects me back to the signin page with the same errors.

I can't find any way to "recover" the account.

See this screenshot:

And if you want 4 minutes and 15 seconds of entertainment as I show my multiple attempts to login, see this video:

Summary: Can't login due to two errors - Can't find account AND Account already exists → Can't login to MDN due to two errors - Can't find account AND Account already exists
P.S. Although I don't show it in the video, I have tried other options for login as they have been presented to me. At one point several months ago I even found a dialog that would have allowed me to recover my account, but it would always say that no email address was associated with the account and at the time I couldn't log into bugzilla to report the bug, because - surprise! - I couldn't log in.
Hi AJ,

You should be able to log in using Persona now. There was no email address associated with the account because it was created before email addresses were required. I manually added your email address to the account so that Persona has something to authenticate against.

Sorry this was more difficult than it had to be. It's a known issue. The team decided that it happens infrequently enough that it could be handled manually.

Let me know how it goes. Thanks for getting in touch.

:openjck, can you add a "see also" to the known issue you mention?
Flags: needinfo?(jkarahalis)
Sure. That would be bug 788575.

This should be all set. Please reopen or comment if there are still any issues.

I just tried to log in again:

I was here https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/API/XMLHttpRequest

I clicked "Sign in with Personna"

I used my email addresss.

I entered 'coolaj86' as my username.

It failed to let me in.

Also, for some reason I don't think these comment were emailed to me as updates so I'll see if I can change that in the settings and if not I'll just come check here each day.

By "failed" I mean it takes me to this page:

https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/users/account/signup

with the title "Create your MDN profile to continue" and won't let me use my username.

Thanks for letting us know. Just to confirm, did you use the email address coolaj86@gmail.com to log in?
Yes, I did.

Also, I just checked my settings and all of the mail preferences are on, but I'm not getting updates to bugs.

I doubt I have any information worth keeping. If you just completely and utterly delete everything coolaj86 and coolaj86@gmail.com from all mozilla sites and let me start fresh that will be just as well.
There are 2 MDN user accounts:

https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/profiles/awesomeaj86
https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/profiles/coolaj86

The latter has coolaj86@gmail.com as its email address, so when you sign in with Persona, make sure you sign in as coolaj86@gmail.com.

If you like, I can also merge the awesomeaj86 account into coolaj86. To do that, I'll send a verification email to the email address on awesomeaj86.

awesomeaj86 can be deleted

I still can't log in.

Here's a 55 second screencast showing my issue:

In a possibly related note: I've doubled checked my settings here at bugzilla and although I'm am supposed to be notified via email with updates to issues, I never get emails about this issue or any other issue.
I added your email address to our new social auth email tables. Can you try to sign in again with Persona with coolaj86@gmail.com?

I also sent an email to awesomeaj86 to verify you're the owner so I can merge that account.

I got email verification from awesomeaj86, transferred awesomeaj86's revisions to coolaj86 [1], and deleted the awesomeaj86 account. [2]

Please try to sign in with Persona coolaj86@gmail.com again. If you can, hopefully this bug is closed. :)

Nope... still can't sign in. Exact same thing as posted in the video yesterday.

To be more clear: I can "sign in". I can't "create an account". Watch the video if you haven't already: http://youtu.be/imMk6QL0ILs
I decided to open a new incognito window in Chrome just in case there were some lingering bad cookies or something of that nature, here's what I noticed:

I signed in with Personna
I was redirected to Gmail
--> I was redirected to "Github username is already taken" <-- interesting....
I type in my username and click create MDN account.
I get the generic "Username is already taken"

I was in a fresh incognito window (and I double checked that I didn't have another incognito window already open). I was not signing in with github. Why did it complain about my github username?
Okay, I tried adding a django-allauth SocialAccount for your Persona directly via django admin panel. Can you try to sign in via Persona with coolaj86@gmail.com again?

Thanks. Sorry it was messed up for you for so long. :(
