Using build id 2001113021 (and since 0.9.6) I haven't been able to successfully
log into hotmail.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Go to hotmail login screen
2. Enter userid and password
3. Click on login button
4. Screen clears and starts requesting data
5. After about 100 seconds loading stops but page is blank

What should happen
1. Logs in and displays your hotmail contents page

If you right click and select page source this is what you get:
<html>
<head>
<script language="JavaScript">
<!--
window.location.replace("http://lc2.law5.hotmail.passport.com/cgi-bin/loginerr?***removed-bit***&_lang=EN&domain=hotmail%2ecom"+"&utf8=0");
// -->
</script>
<meta http-equiv="Refresh" content="0;
url=http://lc2.law5.hotmail.passport.com/cgi-bin/loginerr?***removed-bit***&_lang=EN&domain=hotmail%2ecom">
</head>
<body>
</body>
</html
Note that both the URLs contain a space, just before "lang=EN".
Could you please double check, Ian. Maybe you introduced those spaces
during copy-paste? Otherwise, Mickeysoft are obviously to blame,
since spaces are invalid in a URL.

This may not at all be related to the problem, of course...

P.S. I refuse to participate in the Mickeysoft Passport world domination scheme.
Especially in the light of the many security flaws reported lately,
such as the guy who in half an hour found out how to exploit Passport Wallet
by simple sending a hotmail to the innocent victims.
< http://www.operamail.com/ > is my choice.
> Note that both the URLs contain a space, just before "lang=EN".

It isn't a space: There's an underscore there you don't see because of the
"linkfication" - it's "swallowed" but there. Paste it into an editor and it appears.

Reporter: Do you have PSM installed and all cookies enabled?

I would also like to mention that i could not log into Hotmail either with the
same results as this dude. In fact, I can't log into any Microsoft Passport site
(i.e. http://communities.msn.ca/) using mozilla.

my build is debian's mozilla
2001-12-02

and I have Accept all Cookies enabled.

Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:0.9.6) Gecko/20011202
I have all cookies enabled and I do have PSM installed.
Can this now be changed from UNCONFIRMED now that someone else has confirmed
there is a problem? I've altered the summary ro reflect the wider problem.
Summary: Login to hotmail does not complete → Login to hotmail and other passport sites does not complete
looks like a dup of bug 97222

I just created an ordinary hotmail account (without signing up for MSN passport)
and it works just fine. Testing with day old CVS Linux.

Does it work if you uncheck the "Keep me signed in to this and all other .NET
Passport sites unless I sign out." ?
I have it set to neither, but what I have noticed is that MS have just altered
the coding of the user's "home" page in hotmail and it now does work on Mozilla.
So whatever was wrong in the page is now no longer there.
