When the user switches timezones, the events (and presumably tasks) seek to maintain the exact original time by taking into account the new timezone. While this is a desirable behavior for some events/tasks (e.g., meeting times), this is not desirable for reminders which are part of one's daily ritual (e.g., "feed the baby breakfast" at 9am should not be adjusted to 6pm or whatever when switching timezones).

As someone who switches timezones fairly frequently, I would find it very helpful to be able to specify when creating/editing events/tasks that I wished the event/task to be independent of timezone so as to preserve the same time of day when switching timezones (while allowing other events/tasks to adjust and adjust by default).
Hi, this should be already possible. In the event dialog enable menu Options > Shoe Timezones. Click the link next to start time or end time and Select 'Local Time' in the timezone picker dialog.
Wow... Reminds me of the Hitchhiker's Guide about the notice that was in the basement with no stairs down to it.... :)

But this is really great to know, thanks!
