Currently, you can do almost everything in Preview mode as you can in Normal
mode (except that some other layout CSS stylesheets are applied to the content,
someone once told me).
I think this should be changed. To get a real preview feeling, it needs to be
read-only just like real web content is. Editing is for the Normal and HTML
Source views...
All other homepage editors I've ever used does this. (Dreamveaver, Frontpage etc.)

This is invalid.
If you really want to not edit, then you should use "Browse" instead of "Preview."

Can you give me one good reason to even have Preview in the build at all then? I
find it worthless if you make it read/write and tell me to preview in the browser.

Two main differences: Tables with border=0 appear, and there's an icon to click
on for named anchors when in "Normal" mode.
For most web pages that use tables for layout, this is a very significant
difference.

The tables thing is good, though does it have to be its own mode? Couldn't you
just add a menuitem that could be checked/unchecked to show table outlines?
That way you could remove this mode and thus simplify the UI.
