This bug tracks completion of the design of the WebConf website.

Details and information about timing will be added shortly.

Summary: WebConf Conference Website Design (Early Summer) → WebConf Conference Landing Page Design (Early Summer)
Clarifying this bug.

This is specifically for a landing page announcing the conference. The full website for the conference will come later. Specs for that are highly dependent on the likely use of 3rd party conference SASS solution.

Copy posted to bug 1147512 (and also shared with relevant peeps).
Looks like design was posted in bug 1147512, adding here for reference.
Sean: Please use this bug for items related to the design, 1147512 was just for copy.

Can you provide an eta on the following:

What to expect early next week:
- mobile layout
- form thoughts
Flags: needinfo?(smartell)
Per email we hope to have this completed today.
Flags: needinfo?(smartell)
Here is the PSD for the desktop layout + email form design.
http://people.mozilla.org/~smartell/viewsource/viewsource_homepage-desktop.psd

Preview of desktop email form: http://cl.ly/image/2t060Y090902

Here's the mobile version:
http://people.mozilla.org/~smartell/viewsource/viewsource_homepage-mobile.psd

Preview of mobile: http://cl.ly/image/3F430T3R2t0H

Note: for the mobile form, I added that it appears inline within the page once you click on the link.

Enjoy!
Mobile and Form look good.

I noticed there is nothing in the footer. Do we need some boiler plate mozilla stuff here?
Flags: needinfo?(matej)
I noticed that as well. Is there any legal etc that we'd need to make a one-liner footer we can add in code?

I didn't see a footer in the doc as I was designing.
Yeah doing this in code is fine, I am need-info-ing mika here about the footer.

Mika - please see the design we have going for the view source landing page. Can you advise on what should be in the footer. If you need any clarification on the ask let me know.

The mobile view is here: http://cl.ly/image/3F430T3R2t0H

Clearing my flag, but let me know if I can help. Thanks.

What's the URL for the site? Is this English only?

The footer have three links to "Privacy / Legal / Cookies"

Privacy links to: https://www.mozilla.org/privacy/websites/
Legal links to: https://www.mozilla.org/about/legal/terms/mozilla/
Cookies links to: https://www.mozilla.org/privacy/websites/#cookies
Flags: needinfo?(udevi)
URL is under discussions now but will likely be fully qualified domain name that does not include mozilla. The site will be english only.

So am I correct that in addition to the above links we need the usual footer copy.

Full footer text would then be:

Portions of this content are ©1998–2015 by individual mozilla.org contributors. Content available under a Creative Commons license.

You might not need this, since it depends on the content of the site (unlike mozilla.org sites which have all kinds of stuff). What else will be on this site's pages? If there are images, where do they come from?
Flags: needinfo?(udevi)
Gotcha, the site will be quite basic with information about the conference, directions to signup etc. So i think you are right we would not need the creative commons line. Do we need any copyright?

I don't think you need any copyright license language if it's just copy (and no images). Can we leave it off now, and once the page is final, revisit this?

Agree! Thanks for the help.
I'm forwarding the pdf of the mobile version to the vendor - just want to confirm that we do not need changes to that doc and are not including a footer?
Initial files for the web-only site are available from Internet Simplicity on github: https://github.com/rexington/viewsource

We need to create a Mozilla gitgub repo for this code.

Adding web hosting as a blocker to this bug (https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1151525). This is in process but want to make sure everything is recorded in this bug.
Depends on: 1151525
I've added Rex from IS to this bug.

Rex, can you comment on what it'll take to implement the footer links mentioned in comment 11?

Sean - as also noted in bug 1143073, can you update the web design with the correct mozilla wordmark.

Christie this should be a small change for Rex, however if he is not available we can have someone on my team help.

Any chance we can update this using the asset on our style guide?

https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/styleguide/identity/mozilla/branding/

Or do we need any updated design?
Please provide an updated PSD, because of the background and opacity this may be hard to just include the image from the branding site.
Looks like the PSD is now updated and is ready to go.

Where can I find this PSD?

Here you go, it's the same link as before:

Reopening. We changed the copy and we need Sean to check the LP design layout w/ the copy change (to make sure we don't have to change spacing).

Here's what the new copy looks like on the page:
http://viewsourceconf.allizom.org/

Would be great if Sean could provide input today since we're trying to launch by end of the month and I know most everyone will be bust at all-hands next week. Thanks!
Hey all,

I'd love to see the Sign up CTA and form on the right side in that column. It'll be smaller, but that's where it was designed to be. That main column is far too long as is. Moving it up and to the right will give it greater visibility as well - it won't be part of the long scrolling column.

Thanks!

Sorry, one other thing to note: The main visual top left seems to have been sliced incorrectly as the blueprint grid doesn't cover the entire shape: http://cl.ly/image/191H1Z3K0D1N

Awesome if that could be fixed.

Christie, can you update us when the changes Sean suggested are made/the page is live? I saw today that the authorization is still required to visit the site. Thanks!

So the site was pushed live before the to left logo area was fixed. Could we fix that, please?

Thanks!

I also notice that the header image on the Twitter page isn't rendering correctly:

https://twitter.com/viewsourceconf

We need to fix that as well.
+1 to add high-res images. I'll sending a pull request to https://github.com/mdn/viewsourceconf

I'm not sure why that's happening. I uploaded the header image from bug 1172743. That image is the recommended 1500x500 px.

Maybe we should try a png?

I think that preview is what it looks like now, which is incorrect, yes?

Will you make a preview of what it's supposed to look like?

I can't tell by opening the psd in Gimp.

I see it, thanks!

While reviewing I learned our staging server is down. Working with Webops to restore. PR will be pending until then so everyone has a chance to see the changes.

I need to merge some other changes soon, so unless I hear an objection in the next hour or so, I'm going to merge :kohei's changes.
I suppose I could have responded here instead of nodding approvingly at my screen last week. Looks great!
