Inma has been working on this since the migration. I would like to file a separate a bug as Spanish is a high priority language, with multiple versions to support. I hope there are more people involved to get this done. The original version was done long time ago before I was involved. We migrated the content from the old site and external hosting server to this new home, but most importantly, we moved the content from text files to Verbatim (web content) to Amara (audio script for videos). For Spanish, there will be 3 versions: 1.1 - legacy content - need review and update, make sure pairings are correct 1.3 - new to countries yet to be launched - need localization 2.0 - new to countries yet to be launched - need localization We have consolidated all three versions into one for one language. This will allow the various versions to leverage the same content so you do it once. *Source file for web content*: 1). https://localize.mozilla.org/projects/masterfirefoxos/ - localize, update, review all the strings - Click VCS to Commit when done with each batch of localization. This way the codes get pushed to github. 2). https://github.com/mozilla/masterfirefoxos-l10n/blob/master/es/LC_MESSAGES/django.po You have the option of working on github if you feel comfortable in this environment * Video content*: - 1.1: Verify if all work as they are. - 1.3: we are still scoping if the videos are the same as 1.1 - 2.0: It is staged on Amara to give the options of having subtitles or have voice over. We plan to use voice over for the videos instead of subtitles. Looking at the roadmap, the target audience is largely Latam Spanish speakers. Here are the videos. Please go ahead and localize them. We will download the script once localized and approved before recording (the following is for 2.0): http://amara.org/en/videos/V2QklyHiChu4/info/masterfirefoxoscom-intro-to-firefox-os/ http://amara.org/en/videos/9uT23JBpJeQW/info/masterfirefoxoscom-marketplace/ http://amara.org/en/videos/FTGkAw3Bm2w1/info/masterfirefoxoscom-firefox-browser/ http://amara.org/en/videos/8VOxfdJa2Sq5/info/masterfirefoxoscom-stay-connected/ http://amara.org/en/videos/I5MgUpsze78I/info/masterfirefoxoscom-camera-gallery/ http://amara.org/en/videos/v77in7YLsOv2/info/masterfirefoxoscom-music-radio/ *Staging for final review*: - 1.1: https://l10n.masterfirefoxos.com/es/1-1/ - 2.0: https://l10n.masterfirefoxos.com/es/2-0/ - 1.3: We have yet to put 1.3 together in English and you will see the new strings populated as they are on github/verbatim. We can enable one version at a time. Do comment for specific version, if they are ready to go live. Thank you Peiying

Inma, I'm in the dark with this, but it seems that we should post it to the L10n area at Mozilla Hispano to recruit new people. What do you think?

this bug is related to https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1135302 - initially it was just a review and confirm of 1.1, but now the scope has expanded and Spanish being a priority language. Please note that we will find someone local to help us recording the voice over. We just need the content localized. When I said the target is for Latam Spanish countries, I do not mean that the phones won't be sold in Spain or the site won't be used by the Spanish carrier or retailers. It is the same 'neutral" Spanish you have been localizing to. The video voice over is the one we will need to decide. I hope this helps clarify the situation.

I want to update you that the 1.3 version is added to https://localize.mozilla.org/es/masterfirefoxos/. Staging for 1.3 should be https://l10n.masterfirefoxos.com/es/1-3/ Among the three versions, highest priority is 1.3. It needs to be ready by end of March in time for a launch.

Hi guys, Starting translation of the Firefox OS videos. BTW, if I already translated the .po file for this website here [1], why does it still display some parts in English? [1] https://github.com/mozilla/masterfirefoxos-l10n/blob/master/es/LC_MESSAGES/django.po

Inma, on github, it says only 281 out of 395 strings are translated and the last time it was being worked on was 5 days ago: https://github.com/mozilla/masterfirefoxos-l10n/blob/master/es/LC_MESSAGES/django.po. If this summary is iffy, we can get someone to look into it.

Hi Peiying, Thanks for the heads-up. Actually I had already reviewed and updated many of the strings I'm reviewing on Verbatim right now. I'm trying to figure out what went wrong. I think it has something to do with the different page paths (1-1, 1-3T, 1-4, 2-0) and my translation tool (memoQ). Hopefully, there's a new Spanish contributor onboard to help us meet this project deadline! @Ricardo, the videos are fully translated into a International (LatAmish) Spanish. You may find expressions such as "tomar fotos" rather than "hacer fotos", or words like "video" instead of "vídeo", and few more. I just want to make sure the language used is adapted to the target audience. Please check them out and edit whatever you think necessary. Thank you!

Thank you Inma for your commitment and dedication to this project. The dev team told me that for Spanish, we only include the strings that are needed in Spanish (1.1, 1.3 and 2.0). There are common strings for all versions, so none of your work would go unused As for the videos and common expressions, this is a bit tricky to do one for all, when there are lots of variations. The most important part is that whatever key terms you say or use need to match what's localized in the product - we only have one "es" FFOS as far as I know. Please adjust accordingly if necessary. Thank you, Peiying

I just want > to make sure the language used is adapted to the target audience. Please > check them out and edit whatever you think necessary. I'm afraid I don't have any experience with Amara nor time to learn it. I've just found very minor details: - In http://amara.org/en/videos/I5MgUpsze78I/info/masterfirefoxoscom-camera-gallery/ "HDR lets your customers"... is translated as "HDR les permite a tus clientes". I think it should be "HDR *le* permite a tus clientes". - In http://amara.org/en/videos/v77in7YLsOv2/info/masterfirefoxoscom-music-radio/ "Firefox OS let's your customers" (BTW, shouldn't it be "lets"?) is translated as "Firefox OS les permite a tus clientes". Again, I think it should be "Firefox OS *le* permite a tus clientes". If you agree, could you fix it?

(In reply to Ricardo Palomares from comment #8) > If you agree, could you fix it? Hi Ricardo, Actually, "les" is properly used in that context. Please check out http://lema.rae.es/dpd/ or if you prefer a shorter explanation, read this blog post: http://www.culturizando.com/2011/11/gramatica-les-dijo-ellos-no-le-dijo.html.

When I said "If you agree", I was pretty sure that you wouldn't agree and because of a good reason. :-) Thanks for the explanation.

Am I really supposed to know about this? If we are talking about the videos translation, I thought it was pretty clear that my only points were actually wrong, so the content is good, yes.

Richardo and Inma, you have done everything you can at the moment. I am waiting for the video demo tips to be completed in English so you can proceed with the Spanish version. Apologize that it takes this long to get all the content ready.
