Details
I go to my.yahoo.com and get the generic page (cookie not picked up). I enter my
username and password, press submit and nothing happens except a flickering of
the mozilla loading logo. Works fine in other browsers.

Simon, do you have PSM installed? To check go to
Edit > Preferences > Privacy and Security
is there an SSL panel in that list?
If not, you need to install PSM to access secure sites such as this one..
Let's dup it.
