From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:0.9.6) Gecko/20011120 BuildID: 2001112009 HREFs that take the (password-less) for of http://username:@hostname do not insert username into authenticate the window (A "hinting" technique, which alleviates the need for the user to enter the username). This is a convienience feature. This feature does work in NS4. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.create and click on a A HREF that points to a auth-rqd URL. The link should contain the unix style username:password, except that passord should be null. Actual Results: The auth required window pops up withOUT the username filled in, the user must enter both username and password. Expected Results: In NS4, the auth required window pops up with the username filled in, the user need only enter a password. This is an extremely convienet feature where users frequnelty log in/out, and the web app programmer has enabled username:password encoded 'login' links. And intranet is a good example. Feature works Okay in NS4.
