Details

Bug 1125230 includes a wireframe for v1.0 of the control center. It includes a new history section that has a few states: 1) First visit When visiting a site for the first time it shows a "1" in the bubble and tells the user they're visiting the site for the first time. The "Forget about this site" button is shown. 2) Second or later visit Shows the number of visits in the bubble with a different color and a different text. Has the forget button. 3) After clicking the forget button The current page was wiped from the user's history. The bubble shows a "0" and the text indicates a successful purge as well. The "Forget about this site" button is replaced by a "Open this page in a private window" button that would then open the current page in a private window. And probably close the current tab? (Needs clarification.) 8 points because I hope there will be tests :)

This feature, as specified in the mockups in attachment 8574348 [details], has not been defined as a priority for the Privacy and Security team, as we're focusing on other higher priority work. I also think that we should avoid putting too many things in the Control Center, to keep it contents more relevant, in particular with features that help with controlling site breakage, like Tracking Protection, Mixed Content Blocking, and Permissions. History is not relevant to site breakage. As for indicating first visits as a security measure, we can evaluate this separately, but I'm really doubtful about its effectiveness anyways. We also have the history menu panel as a possible logical place where to put history-related functionality and "forget about this site" functionality. Philipp, do you think we can close this bug?

Yeah, I think we can close this. Many things in control center have changed since those wireframes have been drawn, so we need to adjust the design first. (Just to have said it: I disagree that the control center is about breakage. It's about your relationship with the page/site in general. That's why things like permissions have a place there too)
