This bug is to implement the suggestions in bug 1141635 comment 21, which I'll repeat here:

./flash.sh properly flashes the FOTAKernel partition. Could we also take the time to support:
 (1) flashing recovery by doing ./flash.sh recovery ?
 (2) supporting flashing multiple partitions at once ? Like |./flash.sh boot system recovery| if I want to keep my userdata partition.
