Steps to reproduce:

Currently on Nightly we're using what is the generic share icon on desktop. This is confusing for users, as on desktop that icon has connotations of Twitter, Google+, Facebook, etc. A user shouldn't have to think about what an icon means, they should instantly know, so removing the ambiguity of the icon is important. We want users to instantly think of Firefox Sync when they see the icon and thus we need a unique icon.

I've attached a proposal I knocked up.

Hey pwd,

Great initiative! though, I'm not sure this necessarily blocks those bugs, per se.

Is this about the "Share icon" (3-dot menu > share) or the "Send to other devices" (3-dot menu > share > Send to other devices)?

It is indeed, we're currently using the paper plane there as a Firefox Sync icon.

The reason I made it block bug 783901 was because if we use this icon or come up with another icon, it makes sense to use that same icon for the push notifications. Apologies for bug 1140169, I just assumed all overflow menu polish work was using that as a hub.
