This download integration should probably be applicable across IMAP/POP3/SMTP.

All of our account types always register all downloaded file as they are saved to device storage. Apologies if my responses on IRC did not make that clear.
If you're not seeing downloads in the download manager, then the most likely explanation is that:
- You are using a v2.1 or earlier build
- You are using a b2g-desktop (also known as a simulator build) or mulet build. The download manager requires the gonk toolkit to be used. The browser's download mechanism shouldn't work either in this case.
- Your email app installation predates the landing of bug 825318 and was not correctly upgraded to have the required permission. make install-gaia is not sufficient, either reset-gaia or an OTA/FOTA upgrade is required.
You didn't identify in your comment what version of FxOS you're talking about, or what device/runtime, or include a logcat, so it's hard to guess further what's happening. (The logcat contents will indicate in detail what is happening.)

I'm sorry. I was checking on v2.2 for me actually download was not getting integrated with download manager.
The device had our internal changes. May be I check to check on pure Mozilla & then confirm on the issue.
I'll check and confirm.
Thank you

I checked on Mozilla master & Mozilla v2.2.
In Mozilla master it works good but in Mozilla v2.2 it is not working.
I request you to please take a look at it.
Thank you

Please provide a logcat from your run on v2.2 where it was not working (see https://wiki.mozilla.org/Gaia/Email/RequiredBugInfo) and please identify the build ids and/or git hashes.
