For new tabs (ctrl-t) typed text is deleted/cleared after a few seconds (new behaviour since a few versions).

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.3; WOW64; rv:35.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/35.0 Build ID: 20150122214805 Steps to reproduce: Press ctrl-t then typed "some searchphrase". Actual results: Somewhere within typing "some sea" the typed text was deleted/cleared and just "rchphrase" appeared. Expected results: "some searchphrase" should be appearing. It used to some Firefoxversions ago, until I, regrettingly, decided to update it.
It seems that you are using Firefox 35.0, but the latest non-ESR release when you filed the bug was 36.0.4. Now it is 37.0. Please update Firefox to 37.0 and try again.

Works on the latest official release FFv42. @reporter If your problem still persists on FF42, please feel free to reopen the issue.
