114796 - message search reverts to sort by date, causes sorting weirdness

I'm using Linux 2001-21-11-08. 

Reproducible always:

1. Open a mail folder.
2. Sort by subject (for example).
3. Enter a search term in the search bar.
4. Note that the messages are displayed in descending order by 
   date received (i assume that it's date received). 
   But the arrow in the Subject colun header indicates that 
   we should be sorted by date.
5. Now try to resort by subject. Whoa! What order are those messages 
   in? I get a message starting with the word "New", followed by one 
   with the word "quick", followed by one with the word "Copy". 
   So, it's certainly not alphabetical.

I can't seem to replicate the sorting wierdness for all searches. But, for
example, if i go into my main mailbox and search for "bug", then sort by sender,
i always get this wierdness. I'll attach a screenshot of the wierd sort i get
after trying to resort by subject.

There seems to be some default sort when you do a message search which is
neither date nor subject. I can't figure out what it is. But if you sort by, say
date and then subject after the search, the original weird sorting criterion
becomes lost and things appear in the desired order.

This seems to be fixed. The descending/ascending order now corresponds to the
arrow direction, and i no longer see any sorting anomalies. Using Linux trunk
build 2002-01-11-08. Resolving as WORKSFORME.
