User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.9; rv:38.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/38.0
Build ID: 20150326004005

Steps to reproduce:

while using gmail.com I open an email that has autogenerated google map data. This data is opened on a new tab. Subsequent attempts at opening the email does not exhibit the behavior. Only the initial opening of the email causes this behavior.

Actual results:

Clicked email,
Email opens
Focus changed to new tab
new tab contains google map data relevant to some location mentioned within the email.

Expected results:

email should have open and no additional tabs show have been opened.
Hi reporter,

Can you please provide an email with auto generated google map data in order to test this on my end (my address is in the bugzilla profile)?
Is this happening only on gmail or on any email client (eg: Yahoo, Outlook, etc) ? Did you managed to reproduce this by logging on gmail account trough a different browser (eg Chrome) ?

I can't be sure but in my opinion this may be related strictly to how gmail behaves when this kind of data is contained in an email. In this case, this is not a Firefox issue.

However, can you please try to reproduce this on the latest Firefox release (43.0) or latest Nightly build (https://nightly.mozilla.org/) and report the results ? When doing this, please use a clean new Firefox profile, or even safe mode (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-and-diagnose-firefox-problems). Sometimes issues appear due to custom settings or installed extensions.

Thanks,
Paul.

Considering the fact that the reporter did not provided more information until now on my request, I will mark this issue as resolved - incomplete.
If you can still reproduce this, feel free to reopen it and provide the requested information.

Thanks,
Paul
