User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; Trident/7.0; SLCC2; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 3.5.30729; .NET CLR 3.0.30729; Media Center PC 6.0; .NET4.0C; .NET4.0E; InfoPath.3; MDDRJS; rv:11.0) like Gecko Steps to reproduce: While using Firefox 36, I will sometimes get to a page that locks up for a short period of time and then goes ahead. I try to back out of the app by ending it and then re-open the app. Actual results: You can end the app from your view but then you can never re-open Firefox because it says it is still running. This blocks opening any other session of the app and makes it impossible to launch it in any way. You cannot end any portion of it's DLLs to end the app, end the process in any way. You have to shutdown the machine and restart to be able to use Firefox again. All plug-ins and extensions are up-to-date and safe and this error has nothing to do with media based sites such as YouTube, etc. Expected results: When wanting to shutdown a Firefox session, it should be able to be done by simply ending the app or at least be able to kill the process. Nothing is possible to end the one session of Firefox running besides shutting down the Windows 7 machine it is on. When you do this, it may not give any detail in the crash report.
Thanks for taking the time to report this! Please follow the steps on http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Firefox%20crashes and report back here. Thanks!

I have been having similar problems. Except in my case, after leaving Firefox open for some time, all attempts at opening new websites simply fail (the tumbler keeps rotating on and on and on but nothing happens). It's not the Internet connection problem, because using other browsers still work. When it happens, closing Firefox by clicking the "X" won't end the process. Opening Task Manager and choosing "End Process Tree" also won't work. The _only_ way to end it is to Shutdown Windows (logging off then logging in again won't kill the process) This has been happening since the prior Firefox version. I'm always using the latest stable version. I've tried running Firefox in "Safe Mode" (using that "Restart in Safe Mode" link), it still exhibits the same. My OS: Windows 7 (32-bit) Service Pack 1, with Auto-Update on.
I've just experienced similar problem. Symptoms: Any URL, _including_ the WiFi router's webadmin page, cannot be opened. (No problem opening WiFi router's webadmin page via other browsers) Closed Firefox, saw in Task Manager that process won't terminate, stuck at 138'300 KB. This time the CrashReporter appeared. Checking CrashReporter's directories, it seemed the Crash Report has been successfully submitted. Crash ID: bp-58c9c897-adc8-4bdb-8cdd-de52e2150404
I've attached a ProcessExplorer MiniDump in relation to the latest problem in Comment #3 and Crash Report bp-58c9c897-adc8-4bdb-8cdd-de52e2150404

works for you in version 43 or newer?

Hello, sorry for not updating earlier. I confirm that I no longer see this behavior in version 43. Even after opening the browser for a whole night, with a gaggle of extensions and plugins, and after watching LOTS of YouTube videos, opening lots of AJAX websites, etc. So, I say this is WORKSFORME.
