I'm not sure if this should be part of the treestatus code, but it would be nice to have a bot somewhere to add/remove groups from gaia as the tree is opened and closed. We currently manually remove the "Cooks" and "Chefs" user groups from the repo when the tree is closed.
This is "solution D" in bug 1145244 comment 10 :-)
