User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; rv:36.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/36.0 Build ID: 20150320202338 Steps to reproduce: Open any email message in a tab and then close it, just for a point of reference. Now, use global search to find something, then open a message from the search results list in a new tab. Close both search tabs. Finally, press Ctrl+Shift+T to restore closed tabs. Actual results: The point-of-reference email will re-open in a tab. Search-related tabs which were closed are gone forever. Expected results: Search-related tabs should be included under 'recently closed' just like emails, the calendar and the addon manager are.
Component: Untriaged → Toolbars and Tabs
Confirming on 31.6, search tabs are not restored. Could this be by design, as a privacy (or avoid-clutter) feature? On the other hand, anyone sitting in front of your TB application will have full access to anything anyway... So it's probably more inconvenient for user not to be able to restore the search tabs (compared over the potential desire that nobody should know what I searched for in my messages...) Looking to FF, my google search tabs will also be restored...
