As written,currently it's the bathing suite image. 1. launch firefox 2.x 2. open social Expected: not people in bikinis and bathing suits. Actual: people in bikinis and bathing suits Note: Firefox 1.x / Server 2.1 is not showing that image for social.

Do you know the URL the 2.x image is coming in on? I replaced the Social images but apparently 2.x comes from somewhere else.

It looks like stage was out of date. https://appsearch.stage.mozaws.net/partners/1.0/Search/bgimage?query=Social is showing the hearts now. Tentatively calling this closed, but looking for verification.

It seems like the client is calling up something different in getting the background for 2.x and up. 1.3 seems to be fine. further support of this probably being true : https://mail.mozilla.org/pipermail/dev-fxacct/2014-July/001006.html Seems like kgrandon would know best.
Oh right, we need to update the CDN as well =( These images come from so many places. I've filed bug 1152607 to track this.
