I do not have access to service now requests and do not know who "Sam" is, or what their LDAP account is. Please specify.

(In reply to Dan Parsons [:lerxst] from comment #1) > I do not have access to service now requests and do not know who "Sam" is, > or what their LDAP account is. Please specify. Hi Dan -- "Sam" is "spenrose" is me. I am working on behalf of bsmedberg and cmore on some FHR analysis, and I need access to peach. My ldap username is "spenrose". Please let me know if I can provide any other information, as I am semi-blocked on this. Thanks very much!
Thanks for clarifying, Sam! I've added you to the vpn_peach_gw group and you should now have access. Please let me know if you have trouble.

I'm on -- thanks Dan!
Hi Dan - does this grant Sam access to the peach HDFS as well, or is that separate? He'll need that too. Thanks!

Hi Dave, spenrose is able to access hdfs; I used root to login as him, and: [scabral@peach-gw.peach.metrics.scl3 ~]$ sudo su - spenrose [spenrose@peach-gw.peach.metrics.scl3 ~]$ hdfs dfs -ls /data/ Found 6 items drwxr-xr-x - hdfs hdfs 0 2013-12-13 00:32 /data/UX drwxr-xr-x - metrics-etl users 0 2015-03-30 04:01 /data/fhr drwxr-xr-x - metrics-etl users 0 2015-04-06 21:00 /data/geoip drwxr-xr-x - hdfs supergroup 0 2015-01-29 15:52 /data/lookup drwxr-xr-x - hdfs supergroup 0 2014-02-01 16:09 /data/vertica drwxr-xr-x - metrics-etl users 0 2015-03-27 20:48 /data/weblogs [spenrose@peach-gw.peach.metrics.scl3 ~]$ hdfs dfs -ls /data/weblogs Found 6 items drwxr-xr-x - hdfs users 0 2014-11-13 19:57 /data/weblogs/cdn drwxr-xr-x - metrics-etl users 0 2013-08-19 18:48 /data/weblogs/staging drwxrwxrwt - metrics-etl users 0 2015-04-08 05:07 /data/weblogs/tmp drwxr-xr-x - metrics-etl users 0 2014-05-14 16:59 /data/weblogs/v2_anonymous drwxr-xr-x - metrics-etl users 0 2014-05-14 16:59 /data/weblogs/v2_error drwxr-xr-x - metrics-etl users 0 2014-05-14 16:59 /data/weblogs/v2_raw

Perfect - thanks!
I'm getting: Command '['/usr/bin/hadoop', 'fs', '-mkdir', 'hdfs:///user/spenrose/tmp/mrjob/churn-overtime.spenrose.20150408.194918.361066/files/']' returned non-zero exit status 1 Poking around with "hdfs dfs -ls /user/" I see no "/user/spenrose", but lots of "/user/<other-people-who-work-on-metrics>". A bit of Googling suggests that the Hadoop superuser "hdfs" needs to do this for me ... can anyone help?

Sam caught me on IRC and we worked this out. From an e-mail from Sam: "Brilliant -- thanks so much! Just kicked off my job and watched it create sub directories inside /user/spenrose ."
