115487 - Can't create new folder

I use the last nightly build (2001121521)
so: when you open the window 'manage bookmark' and then you click 'new folder' 
nothing happens (no work load on cpu either)
it does the same if i do it from the 'file' menu
the button just doesn't nothing
(but adding bookmarks works)
just a little annoying

this might be a dup of bug 83642

and bug 83844 reported the same type of problem, but marked as wfm.
is there anything appearing in the javascript console? -- tasks -> tools

you could possibly also, try installing mozilla again, with a fresh profile.

ah, there may be a problem on this build,

bug 115512 is reporting the same problem, today.
and bug 115501 reports strange editting behaviour, which probably doesn't have
anything to do with this.

here is a brief description of my system:
gnu/linux kernel 2.4.14 (system based on an debian install, but a lot changed)
gtk,glib 1.2.10, xwindow 4.1.0
running on a p200/512cache (non mmx), 256MBram (+166MB cache), Mb asus tx 97E
2d:matrox mystique 4Mb
i doubt this will help you but..

taz, is it still reproducible, with the latest nightly, and a new profile?

btw, install nightlies under a *new* dir. or delete the old.
and create a new profile using, 'mozilla -profilemanager'

... but you already know that ;)

taz: if creating a new folder still doesn't work, go to Tasks -> Tools ->
JavaScript Console
to see whether there might be any new errors displayed while you are creating
the new folder.

otherwise, this should be marked as wfm.

i've just downloaded the last build 20011228
i create a new profile and i just tested after, and it works!!
_but_ now i've reconfigured my profile, it doesn't work any more :(
so it should be an option in the setup that causes this bug.
i'll try to find it , but hard (lot of possibilities)

i found it!
it's not related to the preferences,
when i start with the -profilemanager and pushing start
i can add folder, but if i start normally (without option), i can't.
i can reporduce this at 100%

mozilla (20011230) is running since 1-2 hours, and now i can add a new folder.
but donno how to reproduce this :-(

hum, this is strange, the last build (20020101) has the bug again!
i noticed also a bug which appends at the same time as this one:
if i can't create folder, the text below the 'previous, next, reload, stop'
button aren't show.

I can reproduce this bug in the following manner :

remove .mozilla, .netscape6 and whatever other sneaky settings folders
might be lying around.

start-up mozilla 0.9.7 fresh.

manage bookmarks

try adding a folder

it won't work - most of the time.  After
http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/showvotes.cgi?voteon=115487a while it WILL start
working.

The only consistent thing I've noticed is that the Bookmarks text dissapears
from next to the bookmark folder when the problem is happeing.

I can't do any better - it seems to act very randomly.

the 'text bug' is gone, so you can delete the png file (sorry for putting 2bugs
at the same time)

with 2002011108, i still cant create folder..

Checking Javascript console when trying to add a folder I get:

One thing to note: If nothing is selected in the "Manage Bookmarks" screen,
clicking New Folder does not produce this message. If selecting a folder to
place the new folder UNDERNEATH, the above error occurs.

This is on nightly build 2002012208.
