Bug 892935 is going to fix this issue for elements that just have a text child, but even when a node has multiple children, inspecting it should automatically expand that element.

STR:
Right click on an element and "Inspect Element" OR select it via ctrl+shift+c

Expected:
That element is expanded in markup view 

Actual:
The element is collapsed
