Both rkaa and I are seeing this.. I'm on Linux build 2001121708 and rkaa is on "a CVS from yesterday". Both of us are using Flash 5.0 r47 for linux. 1. Open any URL with flash animation. 2. Don't move the mouse. Notice the animations start working then gradually stop. 3. Move the mouse. Watch the animations start to play. 4. Stop moving the mouse. Animations stop. Very annoying :) Various sites with flash animations good for testing this: http://www.osopinion.com/perl/story/15351.html http://www.7up.com/ http://www.nrg.be/ (click on the site logo to reach the flash part)

Using flash 5.0 r47: 2001121708 works fine. A cvs build from 10 minutes ago shows this problem.
2001121708 indeed shows the problem for me - i installed the sea.tar.gz version of moz.

Reading rkaa's comment, I tried the installer version of from 2001121708 and indeed, I see the problem now. Using the archive version from 2001121708 does not show the problem.

No such problems with 2001121715 (0.9.7 branch build). Trunk only?
reassigning... Serge, this could be related to other things you are looking at.

most likely it's regression from new timer landing bug #78611 cc: pavlov

and, if the window loses focus, it stops completely. 2001121708/linux (the one linked from mozillazine)

pavlov, something really strange is going on here, and this is probably xptimer problem. Just try to copy libtimer_gtk.so from 200-12-15-21 build (the last one with libtimer_gtk.so) into components dir of any newer than 200-12-15-21 builds and flash animation will start to work properly (I've tested mostly 7up.com) of course, you have to delete component.reg file before starting mozilla. I'm reassigning this to you...

Unfortunately, applying the patch on bug 117061 does not fix this.
