Steps to reproduce:

I have been using Firefox Sync for a long time, mostly to save my bookmarks. Recently I experienced a complete system crash (Win 8 fault, currently getting rid of Microsoft completely) and lost everything.


Actual results:

When setting up Firefox Sync in a new environment, I realised many of my bookmarks were missing. Is Firefox Sync silently cropping the bookmark list once it is too big? It seems so.


Expected results:

No cropping should have occured without warning that I was beyond storage limits, or something like that. Or is there another explanation?

All bookmarks should sync, so I can't explain why you experienced this. Is it possible the bookmarks ended up in "unfiled bookmarks" or similar? We've a few reports of bookmarks being placed incorrectly which we are looking in to.

Thanks Mark for the feedback. Apparently Firefox has a bookmarks file size limits since, after switching to a new computer and a new Firefox profile, I could not recover all my bookmarks...

(Nota bene, I had a lot of bookmarks, the JSON backup file was several Mb large.)

However, I cannot identify for sure the root cause of the problem... My guess is that any system has a file size limit somewhere, therefore it seems the most logical explanation. More tests are needed, of course!

In the meantime, I switched to Delicious... Not ideal, but better than losing bookmarks!
