Our ways of letting the user access previously visited sites is quite anachronistic. While the awesomebar works great, both the library and the bookmarks and history menus are artifacts from a time when the internet was a simpler place. The objective of this ticket is to explore better options of surfacing this kind of information to the user.

I don't know if this is a conversation that anyone can just jump in to, but I have an idea:

Currently in android firefox, the "awesomescreen" holds pretty much all of the data you could need in terms of previously visited sites. I don't think that desktop firefox would be quite suited to the same level of info, but on the "new tab" page, where there are currently only tiles. It might work to add a tab strip to this page so it could also show views for history or recently visited sites.
